Career storytelling is nextgen personal branding. By fleshing out an individual’s unique skills
with examples of their achievements that show not only what they did, but how they produced results, telling a story about the professional experience by providing background and context differentiates individuals with similar experience. Storytelling demonstrates an individual’s unique talent for applying specific skills and using their knowledge. Validating individual expertise by “showing not simply telling” their career history is the best way to communicate the notion that someone is remarkable and memorable. We remember stories we hear better than we recall plain facts. If an individual wants to maintain connections and grow their network, sharing stories is an excellent way to share personal information, show strengths and express interests, all of which build a connection between people, deepen relationships and promote further discussion.
